For the majority of commercial and industrial counterflow cooling towers high efficiency heat transfer fill is available in standard size fill blocks, fill blocks are factory assembled in 300mm high x 300mm wide x 1200mm, 1800mm or 2400mm long. When special sizes are required these can be cut from stock or fabricated to order dependent on the quantity required.

Polypropylene is heat welded, PVC is solvent welded, both resulting in solid, robust blocks that are easy to handle and site cut. This results in a block that is far easier and quicker to install or clean than individual sheets. Because of its robust welded construction it is less prone to the collapse experienced by lose sheets following a build up of debris.

The selection of the appropriate replacement heat transfer fill is critical if the refurbished cooling tower is to maintain its thermal efficiency. If your cooling tower appears to be under performing or requires thermally upgrading ask for our full thermal selection service.

The selection of the incorrect fill pack can result in an increased air velocity through the cooling tower, this can result in drift or carry over occurring at the drift eliminators, for further information refer to HSE document L8.
