Your business premises may have been inspected by a water company regulations inspector, who will have advised the installation of one or more RPZ valves in order to ensure your premises are water regulations compliant – and to safeguard the quality of drinking water in the area.
RPZ valves provide a low cost, viable alternative to the installation of break-feed cisterns, (water cisterns with built-in air gaps to prevent back-siphonage and contamination from water used for industrial processes).
There is a legal requirement that RPZ valve inspection, testing and certification is carried out on a minimum of an annual basis. This is to ensure the continued compliance of water installations, particularly where water is used in any process, with the Water Fittings Regulations (1999).
It is important to note that the purpose of these regulations is to prevent the misuse, waste, undue consumption or erroneous measurement of water and, most importantly of all, to prevent the contamination of drinking water.
